Le Salvador, le Panama et le Canada ont remporté les matchs aller du deuxième tour et ont mis une option sur leur participation au Tournoi Final des éliminatoires de la Concacaf pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Qatar 2022™.
Les matches retour se joueront ce mardi 15 juin. Rappelons que les trois pays vainqueurs rejoindront le Costa Rica, les États-Unis, le Honduras, la Jamaïque et le Mexique pour la dernière phase, un mini championnat mettant en jeu 3,5 places (barrage intercontinental) pour l'épreuve reine.

Panama 2-1 Curaçao
Le Salvador a maîtrisé Saint-Kitts-et-Nevis (4-0) avec une fois de plus un grand David Rugamas, auteur d'un doublé. L'attaquant salvadorien affiche un total de huit buts en cinq rencontres. Los Cuscatlecos affichent un bilan de huit clean sheets sur leur neuf dernières rencontres et sont en bonne voie pour retrouver le Tournoi Final pour la 1ère fois depuis la campagne pour Afrique du Sud 2010.
Le Canada a connu un succès plus étriqué face à Haïti (0-1) mais continue sa belle série avec cette cinquième victoire consécutive dans ces éliminatoires. Cyle Larin a signé le but de la victoire, son sixième en cinq rencontres. Les Canadiens n'ont pas disputé la dernière phase depuis les éliminatoires pour France 1998, où ils avaient terminé derniers.
Le Panama, quant à lui, a dû batailler pour vaincre Curaçao 2-1 à domicile grâce à des buts de Alberto Quintero et Cecilio Waterman en seconde période. C'est la sixième victoire consécutive des Panaméens qui égalent leur meilleure performance dans cette compétition.
